Travis Intermediate will serve all fifth and sixth grade students in Greenville ISD for the upcoming school year.

The Gifted and Talented program at Travis Intermediate offers students a variety of opportunities for self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication throughout the school year. Identified GT students are served through a pullout program each week by a GT teacher. This provides an opportunity for GT students to work with others who have similar characteristics and needs.

Travis Intermediate offers Pre-Honors courses starting in the 5th grade. Making a decision to enroll your child in Pre-Honors courses is an important decision. Students going into 5th grade will be placed in the Pre-Honors classes based on consideration of the following criteria: Teacher recommendation, GT identification, STAAR results, prior year’s performance in academic classes, and parent requests.  Students do not have to be identified for Gifted and Talented services or reach the “Masters” level on the STAAR test to enroll. Your student does not have to be enrolled in 5th grade Pre-Honors to participate in Honors courses in 6th grade.

The Dual Language program will be offered at Travis Intermediate next school year. Fourth grade students from both Bowie and Carver elementary schools who were enrolled in the dual language program will finish their last year in fifth grade. Students will be instructed one day in English and the following day in Spanish in Language Arts. All other core content is taught in English.

Yes, Travis Intermediate offers a continuum of services for all special programs: Gifted/Talented, Section 504, ESL, Dual-Language, and Special Education. The campus will implement your child’s current plan and/or services. Some individualized schedule adjustments may be necessary to ensure continuity of services.

Three core subject teachers (Math, Reading, Science/Social Studies) and two extra-curricular teachers

     (Art/Music). Our music teacher will be on campus the first semester and the art teacher will hold classes the second semester.

Greenville ISD will open registration for the 2024-25 school year on July 15, 2024. This process is online through your Skyward Parent Access. Click HERE for more information about student enrollment. 

The school supply list will be posted on the Travis Intermediate website at https://travis.greenvilleisd.com/travis-intermediate. The updated school supply list will also be shared with all parents when available through the school messaging system.

You can look up your child’s bus stop information on the GISD Transportation Department website. Type an address and enter your child’s grade to see the school zone for that address. Regular education bus routes with stops and times will be displayed. Special programs including Dual Language, KGJ STEM Academy, New Horizons, and ACE are available by calling the Transportation Department at 903-457-8658.

Students can wear their normal clothing during P.E. Athletic type shoes are needed to participate in the gym activities.

All 5th grade students can be dropped off and picked up on the 5th grade side of the building (King Street.) However, if you have a 6th grade student and a 5th grade student both can be dropped off or picked up at either entrance.  If a student is late, please drop them off at the front door so that they can receive a tardy pass. You do not have to enter the building.

According to the student code of conduct, all students are allowed to have cell phones at school.  Students are allowed to use their cell phones ONLY during passing periods and at lunch.  However, there will be specific times that cell phones will not be allowed out at all such as during State Testing. Also all teachers are required to pick up phones daily at the beginning of each class period. Phones are returned at the end of each class. You can see a copy of the GISD Cell Phone Policy HERE.

After school child care is not provided directly by Travis Intermediate. However, the district program ACE provides care after school. To receive more information about ACE, contact Program Director Johanna Friedel at friedelj@greenvilleisd.com.

All students will be allowed to pick up a copy of their schedule during Meet the Teacher night prior to the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Additionally, parents will have access to student schedules in SKYWARD family access when they are posted.

The Dual Language is an elementary program that will continue through 5th grade. Emergent bilingual students in 5th grade who enter the 6th grade will be served by the ESL program.

Currently, there is not a Dual Language RLA class in 6th grade. The district will survey interest in continuing the Dual Language program into 6th grade. If enough families are interested, a plan for providing a Secondary Dual Language program will be created.

Gifted and Talented students will be served through the GT pullout program with all other identified GT students no matter what program students are participating in. 

Families will be notified when students receive their 2024-2025 schedules. All students will be allowed to pick up a copy of their schedule during Meet the Teacher night before the start of the 2024-2025 school year. Additionally, parents will have access to student schedules in the SKYWARD family access portal when they are posted.  However, please be advised that some schedule adjustments may be necessary during the first week of instruction.

Yes, GT students will be placed into Pre-Honors classes, unless parents opt for something different.

Pre-Honors Math, Pre-Honors Reading, Pre-Honors Science/Social Studies

Students who opt for Dual Language and Pre-Honors in fifth grade will be enrolled in a Dual Language RLA, Pre-Honors Math, and  Pre-Honors Science/Social Studies.
